Join us for a transformative 3-hour workshop where movement meets self-discovery. This collaboration between Wearhaus Chi and The KindaSuper Project invites you to explore the profound connection between your body, your confidence, and your authentic self.
Through guided movement led by Jess V artist and founder of Creative Spaces Consulting, you'll discover movement as an act of resistance, find power in your poses unique to you, and learn to take up space unapologetically. We'll move through obstacles as we turn inward to truly know ourselves, both physically and emotionally.
Mario will guide conversations around redefining confidence through a queer lens, challenging the heteronormative gaze and helping you discover strength in your own unique way of being. This isn't about fitting into someone else's idea of powerful; it's about defining power for yourself.
The experience includes the guided movement workshop and portrait sessions to capture your authentic self, along with community engagement with our nonprofit partners.
Movement led by Jess Vann (https://www.jessvanncreates.com/)
Art discussion & Photography Portraits led by Mario Elias Jaroud (https://www.kindasuper.com/kindasuperproject)

movement for movement makers x house of the Lorde
Join wear|haus chi, Jess Vann; educator, artist and owner of Creative Spaces Consulting w/Jess Vann and Chicago-based performance artist Jenn Freeman (also known as Po’Chop) at House of the Lorde for an afternoon of movement and conversation.
"I had to examine, in my dreams as well as in my immune-function tests, the devastating effects of overextension. Overextending myself is not stretching myself. I had to accept how difficult it is to monitor the difference. Necessary for me as cutting down on sugar. Crucial. Physically. Psychically.
Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” -Audre Lorde
11 am - 12 pm: Nurture a deeper relationship with yourself in a Burlesque class designed to affirm your unique journey, empower your creativity, and bring you closer to your truest self.
12 pm - 1 pm: Dive deeper into ideas of self-care and how we can move with and for others by studying the writing of Audre Lorde. Participants will collectively read and discuss a portion from Lorde's A Burst of Light in a casual, co-facilitated setting.

Start September off strong with this collaborative event bringing two West Town businesses together at Dorothy!
wear|haus is a dance fitness and personal training storefront led by professional dancers who design their classes around choreography while maintaining an approachable, community-oriented class structure.
On September 1st, instructor Katie will lead the class through a 45 minute sequence to get a sweat going, move your body and feel connected to yourself and those around you. After class stick around to sample syrups from Big Sis Bevs Craft Syrups and even order a cocktail special for the night featuring one as crafted by our team.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Class space is limited so everyone has enough room to move. Doors at 6pm and class starts promptly at 7pm. Dorothy will remain open after class until 11pm with late night happy hour from 10-11pm.
